Classroom Updates

We are headed into 4th quarter…and what a year it’s been!  Here are some updates from a few of our classroom adventures:

  • The 3rd graders went on a field trip to the amazing Coterie Theater…they saw a great production of “No Talking,” a humorous slant on kindness and respect in school! They were great representatives of St. Agnes.
  • Our preschoolers took advantage of this great weather and picked up trash around the school…they are taking good care of all of us!
  • Our students are still rockin’ it on our Mathletics team…7th grade placed 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th all placed 2nd! Wahoo!
  • Our middle schoolers all researched, created and presented their science fair projects!
  • In reading, the 5th graders are working on their character development…looking at character perspective including antagonist and protagonist topics!

These are only a few of the updates!  There’s always creative and fun learning opportunities at St. Agnes.

Our Teachers are Always Learning!

This past week, our teachers and staff experienced some great professional development opportunities.

On Monday, a few teachers and leaders attended The Leader in Me conference to learn more about how to incorporate these strategies into our daily curriculum.  Our teachers learned some great lessons!  Click here to learn more about these strategies.

Later in the week, a few teachers attended the first FIRE (Foundation for Inclusive Religious Education) Conference in Kansas City.  This is a great opportunity to showcase our resource team and why an inclusive education benefits everyone!  Click here to learn more about FIRE.

We have a community of learners!  Thank you!

Fund-a-Need Announcement–We need you!

At the 21st Annual Auction on Saturday, February 18, we’ll be raising much needed funds so we can continue to offer the quality education that St. Agnes is known for including spiritual, academic, physical and emotional growth for all our students.

This year, our fund-a-need project will be our very own STREAM Studio.  St. Agnes is ready to make Science Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEAM) come alive in our school! Our entire school (K-8th) has been introduced to STEAM in hands-on activities in the classroom, here are just a few examples:

  • Attending STEAM focused field trips like STARBASE and STEAM Studio at Gould Evans
  • STREAM time every Wednesday in the Middle School where students conduct hands-on activities with professionals in all the STREAM areas
  • Project Lead the Way in the 7th and 8th grades where students gain the necessary critical thinking skills to become STREAM proficient leaders

Our St. Agnes community is ready to take our STREAM focus to the next level by creating two dynamic areas where students in all grades can participate in a wonderful project-based learning environment. In order to do this, we need a space where our students are actively engaged in their learning. We need you! Donate as part of the Fund-a-Need during the auction, and we can make the STREAM experience come alive for our students at St. Agnes.

Our Leader in Me assembly and our first school-wide WIGs

We had our first The Leader in Me assembly this week…starting the year off with a kick! Part of this initiative is making class and personal mission statements. And, our school-wide WIGs were announced (WIG=wildly important goals).

WIG #1: The teachers and staff conducted a survey to record how many students responded to any form of greeting with a response and eye contact. Results showed we were only at 53%! We set a goal to make it to 90%.

WIG #2: The whole school is to read for 250,000 minutes in one month!
